Tired of Pimples ? This is what you should do !



1) Avoid foods with High Glycemic index

Avoid foods with High Glycemic index like sugary food (Chocolates , Sweets , Ice creams , cakes , sugary soft drinks , Potato ,White bread) . Studies show that Diet based on products with High Glycemic Index leads to Hyperinsulinemia. Elevated insulin levels stimulate secretion of androgens and cause an increased production of sebum , which plays an important role in acne vulgaris 



2) APPLY MOISTURIZERS


Dry skin can trigger excess oil production which can contribute to acne by disruption of barrier of stratum corneum leading to increased transepidermal water loss and production of inflammation . Thus Moisturizers are recommended apart from Topical Benzoyl peroxide (or) Retinoid to treat acne.



3) Limit Dairy Products


Some studies show that dairy products like milk , cheese , yogurt increase chances of acne . So limit intake of dairy products , but don't completely avoid it as they are required for your bone health


4) Do Meditation and Limit Stress


Excess stress can cause release of stress related hormones , which inturn increase oil producing gland activity and can cause acne. So reduce stress levels by regular exercise , yoga , meditation


5) Avoid Excess Hair Oil Application


Some studies show excess oil application to scalp hair causes oil to seep down onto face and cause acne .

6) Benzoyl Peroxide Helps 


Another cause of acne is a Bacterium called "Propionibacterium acnes / Cutibacterium acnes" . Avoid Popping or scratching of pimples  escpecially when it is filled with pus to avoid spread of infection. Application of Bactericidal ointment containing Benzoyl peroxide


7) Face Washes Containing Glycolic acid & Salicylic acid Helps  


Hypercornification (Excess formation of horny layer of skin) is another cause for acne . Face wahes containing Glycolic acid and Salicylic acid which has keratolytic effects i.e.., it exfoliates skin and treats acne . Application of these face washes two times daily is sufficient . Avoid frequent washing of face and harsh washing of your face


It takes time for acne to go away so patience is the key . Don't pop  or scratch the acne as it can lead to scar formation which leaves permanent mark on face unless treated with laser.
